CODE OF CONDUCT

Introduction

Welcome to Granton Giants! Our club is committed to promoting a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all players, coaches, referees, club members, administrators, and spectators.

General Principles

  1. Respect: Treat everyone with respect, both on and off the court. This includes teammates, opponents, referees, coaches, and spectators.

  2. Integrity: Act with integrity and honesty in all interactions and decisions.

  3. Inclusivity: Foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their background or ability.

  4. Safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all participants.
     

Players

  • Make a positive commitment to supporting the development of dodgeball.

  • Abide by all anti-doping rules and regulations.

  • Adhere to the rules of the sport as per the British Dodgeball rules and regulations.

  • Display and promote high standards of behavior.

  • Always play to the best of your ability and for the benefit of your team.

  • Promote fair play – don’t cheat, complain, or waste time.

  • Respect your teammates, the other team, the referee, and the coach or team manager.

  • Play by the rules, as directed by the referee.

  • Never engage in public criticisms of the referees.

  • Never engage in offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behavior.

  • Never engage in bullying, intimidation, or harassment.

  • Be gracious in victory and defeat; shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of the game.

  • Listen and respond to what your coach or team manager tells you.

  • Understand that a coach or team manager has to do what is best for the team and not one individual player.

  • Talk to someone you trust or the club welfare officer if you are unhappy about anything at the club.

  • Perform your assistant referee duties when required and to the standard expected.
     

Coaches and Team Managers

  • Lead by example and promote high standards of behaviour.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all players.

  • Provide positive and constructive feedback.

  • Respect the decisions of referees and officials.

  • Encourage fair play and sportsmanship.

  • Foster an inclusive and supportive team environment.
     

Referees

  • Officiate matches fairly and impartially.

  • Ensure the safety of all players during matches.

  • Communicate decisions clearly and respectfully.

  • Maintain control of the game and manage conflicts effectively.

  • Respect all participants and promote fair play.
     

Club Members and Administrators

  • Support the club’s mission and values.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive environment.

  • Ensure the club operates in accordance with its rules and regulations.

  • Address any issues or concerns promptly and fairly.
     

Spectators

  • Support all players and teams positively.

  • Respect the decisions of referees and officials.

  • Refrain from using offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behavior.

  • Encourage fair play and sportsmanship.
     

Breaches of the Code of Conduct

Any breaches of this Code of Conduct will be taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action. This could include warnings, suspensions, or expulsion from the club, depending on the severity of the breach.
